How important is it to keep your home business organized? Essential!

I am assuming you want a serious home business and not just a hobby business or you would not bother reading this article. Let me share some ideas for your consideration.

First thing on my list as a mentor for online home business is for goals and intent to be set. Your goals have to be strong enough to work through the challenges that all businesses will have. If your commitment level is marginal, then your effort and results will be marginal. Write your goals and write a clear statement of them, short and sweet and to the point. Read them every morning and every evening. It will keep you clear on why you are doing your work. Starting a home business is not easy but it is worth every moment of it. You are working towards freedom of time and income.

Using a good Day Timer system, each evening set you plans for the next day in detail, who needs to be called and include their phone number. List activities to be completed or worked on. Set aside time for all the things you need to do each day as well as specific to that day. Some tasks will have many steps so decide in what order they need addressed. The reason for doing it at night before going to bed is that your mind will process it while you sleep and see it as a Completed task.

Set specific time for those pesky tasks that do not seem to be about making money in your business opportunity, but have to be done by you or someone. Items like paperwork, filing, invoicing, banking and bills payment. Things like errands and such; can someone else do it for you? You might set this to do once a week or as often as needed but if your office is backing up with paper work you need help. Organization is a sign of success.

Do those things first in the day that you find most unpleasant, for some that might be to make the phone calls or return emails. Whatever it is, get it out of the way and get on with your day. Learn the procrastination is your enemy.

Learn to say NO! When you have a home based business, people and yes, even family will have a very difficult time believing you really are at work, I mean, after all you are at home. This is one of the most difficult issues to get settled. You cannot train them until you train yourself. When you are at work you cannot be disturbed. If you have family, be sure and plan in family time and time with children.

When starting a home business do not let your home business get to the point to where you are successful but lose your family in the process. My family knows that when my office door is shut, they cannot come in or even knock unless the house is on fire or there is blood to be dealt with. I am not being silly here. If you do not treat your business with the utmost of respect, how can you expect them to do so?

Another somewhat difficult task is to decide the importance of any task. Basically learn the difference between tasks that need doing but are they also ones that make you money? Learn the art of delegation. Expect the unexpected. Sometimes things just happen that are beyond your control. Learn to have a good belly laugh at the ridicules. It will help relieve tension.

Develop family cooperation, not competition. Work with a plan and plan to work. No home business is easy, and a road to success overnight. Prepare yourself to take your business all the way. Never quit. Never quit learning. Take time for family, for fun and your spiritual life. Health is also an issue. Are you taking excellent care of your body and mind? If not, you are doing yourself a disservice. Keep track of your thoughts. Read and study positive materials and keep up with the trainings for your business. Keep your work ethics impeccable. Work with a mentor.
